Apple is seriously considering the issue of battery swelling in some of its older models. In an effort to address this issue, it has already filed two patent applications in which a system for detecting the problem of battery swelling at an early stage is described.
In a related report from AppleInsider, it is reported that the manufacturer intends to address the problem from the first signs. The patent applications filed discuss reducing the size of the device and at the same time attaching a system that will detect battery swelling. The new technology of Apple prioritizes user safety, while also considering resizing devices, making them smaller and more user-friendly.
Battery swelling can happen in devices that use lithium batteries. It doesn’t mean that all batteries that have “swollen” can also explode during the use of the device, but they can be quite dangerous. With its new technology, Apple detects problems of this kind early, incorporating special elements into the battery casing, such as a protective metal shell. Grounding will allow the existence of other components close to the battery, which will not be affected in the event of swelling.
The additional system that Apple is considering for detecting and mitigating battery swelling could even make use of a processor to slow down or prevent the problem. Since the patent applications were filed, the company will soon manage to incorporate the innovations into its next models and so we will learn more details about exactly how they will function.
