FaceTime will soon be available for Android users, via a browser program

A few days ago, Apple made announcements regarding the new features of FaceTime, one of which involved Android users. They will now also be able to participate in FaceTime calls through the web browser they use on their phone.

In 2010, Steve Jobs had stated that FaceTime would be based on open standards and work platforms, something that has not been the case until now. However, at WWDC 2021, Apple announced that via the internet, FaceTime calls will also be able to be made on Android and Windows devices.

FaceTime is already based on several open standards with H.264 video, AAC audio, etc. FaceTime will become an open industrial standard through standardization bodies.

Among the other features of the new versions of FaceTime are spatial sound support, grid view for video, portrait mode for video, FaceTime links. As already mentioned, participating in FaceTime calls through the browser on Android and Windows, as well as SharePlay for sharing content during a FaceTime call, such as screen sharing, music, etc.
