Samsung recently unveiled its new folding phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, during its summer Unpacked event. The main difference from last year’s model is the external screen, which is now much larger, allowing for phone operation and the execution of various tasks without fully opening the device. The metal mechanism has been improved for greater durability and leaves no gaps when the phone is folded, while the internal flexible screen has become more resilient.
As for the external screen, it is a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED with a resolution of 730×748 pixels, a 60Hz refresh rate, and protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. When the phone opens, it reveals a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and a resolution of 1080×2640 pixels, while the brightness can reach 1200 nits.
Inside the Galaxy Z Flip 5 lies the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor from Qualcomm, which is the same as the one we find in the Galaxy S23, accompanied by 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256/512GB of UFS 4.0 technology storage space.
As for the battery, it has a capacity of 3,700mAh and charges wired with 25W, offering 50% charge in 30 minutes. It also supports 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is also equipped with stereo speakers tuned by AGK, Bluetooth 5.3, and a fingerprint sensor on the power button. It is also waterproof with IPX8 certification.
In terms of cameras, there are no changes from last year. There is a two-camera setup at 12MP. The main camera has OIS and an f/1.8 aperture, while the wide-angle camera has an f/2.2 aperture. The camera can record 4K video at 60fps. The selfie camera is 10MP with an f/2.4 aperture and can record 4K video at 30fps.
The price of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $999 and pre-orders have already begun, with the phone soon to be available in stores.
