iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus: New Camera Design Revealed

The first images of cases for the anticipated iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have been released on the web, giving us a preview of the rumored new layout of the vertical rear camera. Apple seems to have decided to follow a different approach for the iPhone 16 models, testing new camera designs that all feature a vertical layout.

According to the leaks, the most recent prototype of the iPhone 16 displays two distinct cameras, Wide and Ultra Wide, positioned in a pill-shaped raised surface. This design choice seems to stem from the inspiration the company took from older models, such as the iPhone X. The camera also incorporates a spot for the microphone next to the lenses, while the flash is positioned at the edge of the device, outside from the main protruding surface.

The vertical layout of the camera on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus implies that Apple intends to introduce the function of spatial video recording to these models, a feature that so far was limited only to the more expensive Pro models.

Beyond the changes in the camera layout, the iPhone 16 prototypes also include an Action Button, similar to the one found on the iPhone 15 Pro, as well as a capacitive capture button for horizontal video capture, integrated into the device’s frame.

It’s worth noting that the appearance of cases at this early stage does not guarantee Apple’s final design choice for the iPhone 16. Case manufacturers often gather information from leaks and rumors to create their first designs, so things can still change.

The wait for the official announcement continues, but these leaks certainly provide an interesting glance at the future of the iPhone 16 series, promising significant improvements both in functionality and aesthetics.
