The latest rumors from China suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have improvements in charging technology.
While the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max can reach up to 27W via cable and 15W through wireless MagSafe charging, this year’s models are expected to go a step further. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are said to support 40W wired charging and 20W MagSafe wireless charging. These figures represent the maximum charging speeds, which will not be achieved for large periods of time during charging.
We look forward to seeing how this increase will affect actual charging time, as this is what most concerns users. If the rumors prove true, this will be a noteworthy improvement, although it remains far behind the top speeds of 120W wired and 50W wireless from Chinese companies. On the other hand, the source of the rumor suggests that this increase in charging will offset the upcoming increases in the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Apple is aiming to ensure that the new models charge at least as fast as their predecessors, despite the larger batteries they will include.
A rumor about a year ago already suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would receive these charging improvements and that they would also use stacked battery technology, which allows for higher capacities and longer lifespan.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are set to be presented by Apple in September, along with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.
