The new iPhone 16 series is expected to be unveiled on September 10 this year, according to rumors.
The Elec reveals information about the supply chain, shedding light on Apple’s production plans.
The company plans to manufacture about 90.1 million iPhones initially, slightly more than last year’s target of 86.2 million. Specifically, the production of the Pro Max models will reach 37% of the total number, or 33.2 million units.
This represents a significant increase compared to the 24.2 million iPhone 15 Pro Max that were manufactured last year. The units of the 16 Pro will amount to 26.6 million (30%), compared to the 21.8 million models of the 15 Pro last year.
The versions that do not belong to the Pro category will make up 33% of the total production, with the basic iPhone 16 showing a moderate rise from 21.8 million units to 24.5 million (27%), while the iPhone 16 Plus will only be produced in 5.8 million units (6%). This last model will be the only one to show a decrease, as the production of the iPhone 15 Plus was 8.5 million units the previous year.
Apple’s plans may change depending on demand, but with the declining course of the Plus model, rumors about its replacement with another iPhone version in the future seem plausible.
The increase in the production of the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max suggests that Apple is aiming for increased revenue, given that these are the most expensive models in the company’s range, potentially offering larger profit margins.
