A few days ago, Apple introduced the MacBook Pro with the new powerful Apple M1 processor, causing excitement with its new fast speeds. Now it comes with even more pleasant news, with the upcoming M1 iPad Pro surpassing any expectation. According to the first benchmarks, the iPad Pro of the 5th generation, will be extremely fast. According to MacRumors, the first Geekbench 5 want the iPad Pro with the M1 processor to score 1,700 in single core and about 7,200 in multiple ones. Similarly, the iPad Pro2020 with the A12Z processor, had scored 1,100 and 4,656.

To better understand the new data, we can simply compare it to Apple’s other devices:

  • 16” MacBook Pro with Intel Core i9 processor: 6,819
  • M1 Mac mini: 7,346
  • iPad Air: 4,246
  • M1 iPad Pro: 7,200
  • A12Z iPad Pro: 4,656
  • M1 MacBook Air: 7,580

It is clear that the performance of the M1 iPad Pro is significantly improved compared to the A12Z iPad Pro and it’s much closer to M1 Macs. It is impressive that its power even surpasses the 16-inch MacBook Pro that carries the Intel i9 processor.

We should clarify that the above numbers pertain to benchmarks, the full picture will be clear in a few days when we see the official reviews. A much better and more complete view of the iPadOS will be available in June, after the official presentation of the iPadOS 15 at WWDC.
