The brand new flagship smartphone series, Mate 40 of Huawei was revealed and is now available on the market. It involves 4 different smart mobile phones, Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro Plus and Mate 40 Porsche Edition!
Many improvements are observed on the new devices. Once again, Huawei collaborates with Leica and the camera capabilities skyrocket. Huawei Mate 40 Pro/Pro+ has the largest sensor in the market, the new 1/1.28″ sensor. The resolution increases even more to 50MP, while omnidirectional autofocus and the f/1.9 diaphragm lens with optical stabilization (OIS) remain. As for the pixels? Their size is 1.22μ, while it doubles through the binning process.
Main camera:
-Shoots 4K video and 60 fps, as well as slow motion at 1080p and 480 fps
-Has a mode that shoots at 3,840 fps at 720p resolution
Front Camera
– The 13MP front camera features a depth sensor, which can even detect gestures, which help to control the device through the new EMUI 11.
-Has face ID but also a fingerprint sensor under the screen
Selfie Camera
– Shoots video in 4K60, as well as slow motion at 1080p and 240 fps
Cine camera
– It has a sensor with 20MP and ultrawide with f/1.8 diaphragm and it’s the first smartphone camera in the world with free form lens that reduces the distortions of the ultrawides.
– It features a periscopic 125mm lens in front of the 12MP sensor. Offers 5x zoom
-Features f/3.4 aperture and optical stabilization
Now let’s check the screen. The OLED 6.76″ screen is larger than its predecessor, Mate 30 Pro, with a resolution of 1,344×2,772. The outline of the screen follows the waterfall design with an 88-degree angle like on the Mate 30 Pro, while the virtual buttons also remain for the control of the functions.
The refresh rate is 90Hz with significantly improved touch sampling rate at 240Hz for even better response. Viewing multimedia is also improved as it can combine 3D audio with vibration. However, talking about improvements, we particularly focus on the 66W recharge and the 50W respectively on the wireless recharge.
In addition, we have a brand new Kirin 9000 processor, the first so far on 5nm in Android and Huawei. It has 4 Cortex A-77 cores, one of which is timed at… 3.13GHz. It also has 4 A55 cores. The GPU has 24 cores while it includes built-in 5G modem and supports Wi-Fi 6+.
The difference of the Mate 40 Pro+ is that in the camera the periscopic lens reaches 10x optical zoom, instead of 5x and has a 8MP sensor, f/4.4. Also, it features a 12MP camera for mid-range zoom, with 3x and also laser autofocus. The premium version Porsche Design Huawei Mate 40 RS steals the show with its octagonal rear camera design and a vertical stripe in the middle of the device. This model, which costs €2,299, has 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
The simple edition of Huawei Mate 40 has the following features:
– Processor Kirin 9000E: same CPU, but the GPU is with 22 cores instead of 24 and the NPU operates with one core, instead of two. RAM is 8GB / 128GB storage.
– OLED 6.5″ screen with the resolution is at 2376×1080 and the edges at an angle of 68 degrees (instead of 88 degrees on the Pro).
– Triple camera at the back, without periscope, with a basic 50MP f/1.9 sensor, ultra-wide at 16MP f/2.2 and tele 8MP f/2.4 (3x zoom).
– No wireless charging supported, and the conventional comes in 4.200 mAh with 40W, instead of 66W. It has not yet been announced whether the Huawei Mate 40 series will be released in our country.
