Spy stories are becoming increasingly popular, with many of the new desktop and portable computers now coming with built-in cameras. Many users were alarmed, talking about the abolition of privacy. They are most worried about possible access to the cameras by hackers.
So, many are those who rushed to purchase camera cover accessories, which allow them to activate the cameras whenever they desire. These accessories, however, are not genuine, nor are they recommended by the manufacturers. Apple, for example, alerts its customers not to use the camera cover, which could cause serious damage to the MacBook screen.
“If you close your Mac laptop with a camera cover installed, you might damage your screen because the clearance between the screen and the keyboard is designed for very tight tolerances. Covering the built-in camera might also interfere with the ambient light sensor and prevent features like automatic brightness and True Tone from working,” states the technological giant in its announcement.
What Apple suggests to MacBook users is to monitor the indicative light that warns that the camera is functioning. The MacBook camera is designed to emit a characteristic light when used. This way, users can detect if a hacker has breached their privacy.
