iPhone 14 Pro: Has the time come for the notch to go?

New information suggests that the iPhone 14 Pro will feature a hole-punch on its screen, signaling the end of notches in Apple’s Pro models. The iPhone 14 is expected to be released in 2022, with the Pro model featuring a 6.1-inch screen and the Pro Max a 6.7-inch screen. The screen seems to be significantly upgraded, as the notch, which has so far provoked reactions from consumers, is eliminated.

By using the hole punch, the company can offer users a larger screen surface, leaving space for the front camera. This design has been utilized by Android manufacturers in recent years and it is impressive that Apple has not made this specific change until the iPhone 13.

If the company does move forward with this screen transformation, the Face ID mechanism will likely be moved under the screen. However, these data only apply to the more expensive models of the series, with the hole punch only being installed on the 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens of the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max. It’s worth noting that no iPhone mini is expected to be released in Apple’s new mobile phone series in 2022.

Additionally, it is mentioned that the company is going to use LTPO OLED screens for the Pro models that will be released, allowing a refresh rate of 120 ProMotion, a technology that has already been applied to the iPhone 13 Pro models. So far, Samsung has been the supplier of OLED screens for the iPhone 13 Pro models, however, it is not ruled out that the screens for the new models may be supplied by LG Display.

The screen redesign with the removal of the notch and the installation of the hole-punch has been rumored and anticipated by Apple for quite some time and it seems that it will be implemented for the first time in practice.
