Apple has already started the development of iOS 19, even though the release of iOS 18 is still about two and a half months away. iOS 18 will bring new artificial intelligence features.
At the moment, those who wish can install iOS 18 beta 2, although it is unstable and may reduce the battery life of the device. Despite this, users will have the opportunity to test new features earlier.
While iPhone users are eagerly awaiting iOS 18, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman wrote in his weekly newsletter, Power Up, that Apple is already working on iOS 19, which is expected to be released in September 2025. According to Gurman, the internal code name for the next iPhone operating system is “Luck”, which may not be the best choice for software that drives the company’s most important product.
Other software being developed for 2025 and their internal code names include macOS 16 (“Cheer”), watchOS 12 (“Nepali”) and visionOS 3 (“Discovery”). Apple is working on software that won’t be released until next year, as the company is in the process of developing its refreshed devices for next year and needs new software to operate them.
This is not an accelerated schedule for Apple, but follows its usual timetable.
