If you are an iOS user, you may have noticed that Apple’s iCloud Keychain stores your login details as well as your payment information when you make purchases from your iPhone or iPad. However, more and more people are using a password manager, which allows them to easily log in to multiple applications. If you are considering transitioning to such a manager, it is suggested that you disable iCloud Keychain on your device.

Every time you sign up for an app or log in to a website from iPhone or iPad, the iCloud Keychain appears on your device by default. With this particular tool, you can generate secure and strong passwords. Before proceeding to the next step, you should know that disabling iCloud Keychain also means the automatic deactivation of all pop-up windows and messages related to the passwords you have used.

To disable iCloud Keychain, go to your device’s Settings. Usually, you can find the Settings on the home screen of your iPhone or iPad. If not, look for the Settings icon by swiping down on the screen and using the help of the Spotlight search to locate it.

  • From Settings, select Apple ID profile (you can find this option at the top of the screen)
  • Then select iCloud and
  • finally, press the iCloud Keychain option to disable it

The next time you log in to a site, the option to save the password in Safari will no longer appear. To re-activate this feature, you just need to follow the above steps. In addition, you may be asked to log in again to your Apple ID account and confirm your password on your device.
