Many may meet the above title about Apple’s entry into the gaming market with skepticism, however, this is a company that does not remain static and is interested in expanding in all directions. Apple has made an initial move towards this field with the Apple Arcade software, realizing the profitable gaming environment. However, gaming hardware is a completely different proposition.
A tweet from the leaker @FrontTron mentions that in a Korean forum, people connected with personalities and situations discuss the possibility of Apple developing its own console in the near future! Similar to the concept and features of the Nintendo Switch and using it as a guide, Apple’s console would be a portable hybrid device, which on one hand would be autonomous and on the other would have the ability to connect to any television.
The people who announced these elements report that Apple is already in contact with Ubisoft, as well as with other game developers. However, it’s still too early to get excited, as similar rumors had been leaked in the past about the creation of a gaming Mac, which never got released by the company.
Of course, we should not forget the Pippin, the gaming console that Apple created and released in cooperation with Bancai in the mid-90s, without achieving any particular success.
