Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd announced that the SmartThings Find service, which was first presented in October 2020, continues to show rapid growth and consists of more than 100 million find nodes. Through SmartThings, a cutting-edge technology that allows for a connected life, 230,000 devices are located daily.
The President and Head of Mobile Communications Business of Samsung Electronics stated:
“We are incredibly proud of how quickly the SmartThings Find service has grown in less than a year, helping people around the world locate hundreds of thousands of lost devices every day. SmartThings Find is yet another example of how Samsung continues to create new experiences that are meaningful to people, making life more comfortable and less stressful.”
Through the rapidly growing SmartThings Find service, users can easily and accurately locate their Galaxy Smartphones, Smartwatches, Earbuds, and even the registered S Pen Pro, as well as other personal items that have been attached to a Galaxy Smart Tag or Smart Tag+ device. The SmartThings Find feature, a distinct feature of the SmartThings ecosystem, utilizes BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and wideband (UWB) technology to locate lost devices. Even if the device is offline, other Galaxy users can complete the activation of the Galaxy smartphone or tablet to locate lost devices of others nearby.
Another point of development for SmartThings Find is the new SmartThings Find Members service, with which any user can allow friends and relatives to become members of their SmartThings account, in order to be able to find and manage their devices. With the new service, up to 19 people can be invited and up to 200 devices can be located. Once someone accepts the SmartThings Find Member invitation, they have the ability to view the selected devices.
The SmartThings Find Members service allows families to locate their pets, or car keys, even if they don’t have their phone with them.
