The first analyses of the new iPhone 14 models showed that Apple’s fanatical fans “loved” the Pro more, turning their back on the company’s two main models.
Specifically, Erik Woodring, a Morgan Stanley analyst who specializes in Apple matters, performed an analysis of the delivery times on the initial orders of the new models and issued a report for the clients of the investment house. Delivery time is the period between the moment when someone places an order and the moment they receive the product. In this case, Woodring examines the delivery times for all new iPhone 14 models – Pro and non-Pro.
What the delivery time analysis showed
According to his report, the delivery time for the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the United States was the longest of any Apple product in the last six years. Specifically, the average delivery time for the iPhone Pro Max was 36.5 days. This is a week longer than the delivery time of 29.5 days for the iPhone 14 Pro, the third longest delivery time in the last six years and equal to the delivery times of last year’s iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Apart from the intense demand for the new iPhone 14 Pro series in the third largest smartphone market in the world, Apple also did exceptionally well in the top smartphone market worldwide, China. There, over 2 million orders were made for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in the first 24 hours after the opening of pre-orders.
At the same time, with a delivery time of six days, the iPhone 14 lagged far behind in demand, showing that Apple’s audience wants more changes in the non-Pro. Woodring did not have a delivery time for the iPhone 14 Plus, since the 6.7-inch non-Pro model will not be shipped until October 7th.
Delivery times, however, are not based solely on the demand for the models. The supply chain plays a significant role, as does the ability to quickly ship products to consumers.
Nevertheless, it should surprise no one that the Pro models have higher demand. And this is because they exclusively have the best chip, the A16 bionic, upgraded 48 MP cameras, and the Dynamic Island. Therefore, it makes sense that if someone has decided to buy an iPhone, they will choose a Pro, regardless of the price difference. Perhaps this was Apple’s original goal after all!
