Samsung Galaxy S23: What we know so far

Samsung Galaxy S23 |

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 impressed Samsung devotees and received rave reviews. Nevertheless, plenty out there still prefer a classic design for their smartphone even today.

If you belong to the same category of consumers and have a little patience, then the Samsung Galaxy S23 is probably the ideal phone for you!

This year, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series left the best impressions, with its refined design, performance, and the “rebirth” of the Note. It seems that the Galaxy S23 will follow roughly the same pattern in about a year’s time, with some minor design changes, definitely improved performance, and possibly some small surprises.

The Galaxy S23 may still be some time away, but let’s look at some early information.

Design and specifications

Let’s start with the design of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The first renderings show that there are no major changes. However, the phone appears to have fewer curves compared to the previous model, as well as some other minor modifications.

As for the S23 and S23+, Samsung seems to be borrowing some elements from the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The camera bump, a characteristic for the S series in the past two years, appears to disappear, causing already a great disappointment to many users.

Regarding colors and other details, we have to wait. However, if you were hoping for a complete redesign then you may end up disappointed. If you were hoping for a complete redesign in 2023, it appears you are out of luck.

Though we don’t know much about the Galaxy S23’s battery capacities yet, there is information suggesting Samsung is going to improve fast charging capabilities.

Technical specifications

The technical specifications of both Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus are generally similar to this year’s phones. The S23 is expected to have a 6.1-inch display, while the S23 Plus could have a larger display, 6.6 inches. Both are expected to again have three cameras, although the exact camera specifications are not yet known. In the US, both will almost certainly be powered by the upcoming flagship SoC from Qualcomm which will likely be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Samsung tends to announce the new models of the Galaxy S series in the early part of the year. The S22 series was announced this year in February, while the S21 was announced in January 2021. This means the Galaxy S23 series is most likely a few months away, with more information become known as we approach the announcement.
