Are you ready to sell your old iPhone and “upgrade”, by buying one of the brand new Apple phones? It is known that the period before and after the announcement of new models, the sales of used iPhones “skyrocket”.
However, before you… sell your old device, it would be a good idea to pay attention to some parameters related to your personal data. Because under no circumstances do you want the next owner of your iPhone to have access to your data, such as photos and contacts. It would be preferable for the buyer of your mobile not to “browse” carefree snapshots from your summer holidays.
So, let’s see what movements you should make to have peace of mind!
Get rid of “Find my iPhone”
- Turn off the “Find my iPhone” application by going to Settings > Account > Find. Press the switch, along with “share location”.
- Any wireless Bluetooth devices you have, remove them from the Bluetooth menu.
- Turn off iMessages.
Disconnect the Apple ID
- Go to Settings > “Your name” > Logout.
- Enter your password.
- Then, you will be asked if you want to keep a copy of your data on the current iPhone. You should have already backed up either offline via iTunes or on iCloud. So, no need to enable it.
- Press the “Logout” and again on the message that will appear immediately after.
Prepare for data deletion
- Remove the SIM card from your old iPhone
- Go to Settings > General > Reset > Content > Settings and select “data erase and settings”.
- Confirm that you want to delete the device, by entering your Apple ID password.
- Wait until the data are deleted.
- You are ready to sell your iPhone, without the stress that you’ve left behind any personal data!
