In an official announcement, YouTube has launched Go Live Together, now available on iOS and Android, offering the ability for two creators to co-host a live broadcast!
This feature allows creators with 50 or more subscribers to invite a guest to live stream with them. Only one guest can be hosted at a time, however, guests can alternate during the same live stream, without needing to have 50 or more subscribers themselves. This function is limited to the YouTube mobile app and is not available to desktop users.
Only via smartphones
Creators can schedule a joint stream via YouTube on desktops, but both the host and the guest must connect to the scheduled stream through the YouTube app on a mobile device. YouTube announced in a recent tweet that it is currently exploring the addition of desktop support for this function and will provide an update at some point in the future.
Users can locate the feature by going to the YouTube mobile app and selecting the create (+) button at the bottom of the page. Go Live Together should then appear in the popup menu of options. You will still see this option even if you currently do not have 50 or more channel subscribers, but you will not be able to host a stream without an invitation.
