One UI 5.1 made its debut with the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, offering radical improvements to its stock applications and its integration with other Galaxy ecosystem devices. One of these improvements is faster access to the Expert RAW application on supported devices.
Now, smartphones that are compatible with the upgrade to One UI 5.1 will also receive a shortcut to the Expert RAW app, within the stock camera application.
How to access the Expert RAW app from the stock camera app
- Download and install the Expert RAW app on our compatible Galaxy smartphone
- Open the stock camera app on the device
- Press on More, where we will find the Expert RAW in the list.
It is worth noting that the Expert Raw app on many Galaxy smartphones also offers an astrophotography mode, for clearer photos of stars and the night sky.
The “journey” of the Expert Raw application by Samsung
Samsung’s Expert RAW application offers greater control over the camera on specific Galaxy smartphones, allowing the user to produce better results.
The application made its debut in beta version on the Galaxy S21 Ultra in 2021 and went public with the Galaxy S22 series this year.
Samsung promised to extend the availability of Expert RAW to previous generation Galaxy flagships, including the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 Ultra. Samsung’s original schedule stated that the application would be compatible with 2020 Galaxy flagships in the first half of 2022, but due to issues, the support was delayed. Three months after the promised schedule, the Expert RAW app was finally updated with support for Samsung’s premium devices.
After the latest update, Expert RAW now works with the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the Note 20 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Other phones from the same series, the Galaxy S20+, S20, Note 20, and the original Flip, are not compatible as they do not meet the minimum system requirements.
However, even on supported smartphones, the application will only work with the main and the ultra-wide 12MP camera.
