Google has launched the Nearby Share feature since 2020 in order to offer Android device users an easy and quick way to share files among nearby devices (smartphones, tablets, and chromebooks).
Now, the company is expanding the Nearby Share feature between Android devices and Windows computers, launching the beta version of the app in several countries, including Greece and Cyprus!
How to use Nearby Share
The process of using Nearby Share Beta for Windows is extremely simple: download and install the app on your computer and that’s it.
You can now send photos, videos and other files to Android devices (and vice versa) regardless of whether the app is open or simply running in the background.
Right-clicking on the file will display the option “Send with Nearby Share” and upon clicking on it, a list of nearby Android devices that already have Nearby Share enabled will appear. If you have the app open on your computer, you can transfer files via drag and drop.
In order for Nearby Share to work, it is necessary to enable your computer’s WiFi and Bluetooth. To prevent any unwanted messages, you can choose who can “see” your device and send you files. Under the drop-down menu for device visibility settings, you can choose to make your computer visible to everyone, only your contacts, only your nearby devices, or nobody at the moment.
