Apple is making a significant transition in its accessories, moving away from the Lightning cable era that lasted for more than a decade. By replacing it with the USB-C port, the company complies with European legislation, striving to offer convenience for its users.
During the “Wonderlust” event, it was announced that the AirPods Pro 2 (or 2nd generation) will come with a new MagSafe Charging case with a USB-C port. Apart from charging via USB-C, this version offers additional dust resistance, both on the earbuds and their case. In addition, they have an IP54 certification for water resistance, compared to the previous IPX4. These earbuds will also offer Lossless sound quality (20bit, 48kHz) with low latency on Apple Vision Pro. With iOS 17, all versions of the 2nd generation AirPods Pro will get new features like Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness. Moreover, AirPods owners will be able to charge their earbuds directly from their iPhone for the first time, provided they own the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
However, it’s not only the AirPods making a change. The classic, simply, wired headphones from Apple, also known as EarPods, will now be released in a USB-C version, as announced by Apple during the “Wonderlust” event. Their price will start at $19 in the United States.
Naturally, Apple has also announced a new Lightning to USB-C adapter for those not yet ready to make the transition to the iPhone 15.
The 2nd generation AirPods Pro with USB-C case will be available from September 22nd, the same release date as the iPhone 15, at a price of $249.
