Samsung has released a video revealing the new capabilities of the ISOCELL 200 MP sensor that will be used in the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The video shows two key new features of the sensor:
- Zoom Anyplace: This feature allows capturing two streams of 4K video simultaneously: one with the full frame and one with zoom.
- E2E (end-to-end) AI Remosaic: This feature processes photos in parallel, rather than sequentially, increasing capture speed and improving image quality.
Samsung states that all features shown in the video are indicative, but they are likely to be seen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra expected in January 2024.
Zoom Anyplace
Zoom Anyplace is an impressive new feature that will give Galaxy S24 Ultra users greater flexibility in video shooting. The function automatically tracks subjects in a video and continues to record full-frame shots with a blurring of the entire scene.
This means you can focus on an object while continuing to record the full scene. For example, you can focus on a face in a crowd, while still recording the entire crowd.
The feature will be supported with both 2x and 4x zoom, further extending the video capture capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
E2E AI Remosaic
E2E AI Remosaic is a new image processing technology that will improve the speed and quality of photographs taken with the ISOCELL 200 MP sensor.
Today, the ISOCELL sensor processes photographs sequentially, color by color, layer by layer. This can result in delayed capture and loss of image quality.
With E2E AI Remosaic, processing will occur in parallel. This means color, tone, noise reduction, clarity, HDR, isolation, white balance, and lens shading correction will happen simultaneously.
This will result in a twofold increase in capture speed, leading to less processing time and better image quality.
The new features of the ISOCELL 200 MP sensor show that Samsung continues to innovate in the smartphone camera sector. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will be a powerful smartphone with top-tier camera features, and Zoom Anyplace and E2E AI Remosaic are likely to be two of its most impressive capabilities.
