During the special Apple Event, where the new iPhone 16 series was introduced, the much-anticipated software upgrade announcement that affects all iPhone owners was not missed. This is iOS 18, which is expected to bring significant innovations, particularly with the integration of Apple’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.
The final version of iOS 18 will be released on September 16 for all supported devices. Specifically, the brand-new iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will have iOS 18 preinstalled, as they will be released on September 20.
However, a peculiarity that stands out this year is that the Apple Intelligence features will only be supported on the iPhone 16 models and on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The rest of the iPhones will not be able to utilize these advanced AI features.
Apple also announced the list of iPhones that will support iOS 18. The oldest models that will receive the upgrade are the iPhone XS, which were released in 2018.
Due to European Union regulations, Apple will not deploy the new suite of Artificial Intelligence technologies, known as Apple Intelligence, in Europe this year. Also, features such as iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay Screen Sharing will not be available in the European market with iOS 18.
