The rumors about the release of an ultra-thin iPhone from Apple are becoming increasingly intense, with reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shedding more light on the matter. In a post on his Medium blog, Kuo revealed that Apple plans to release in 2025 a new model iPhone 17 that will emphasize elegant design rather than technical specifications.
This ultra-thin iPhone 17 will feature a 6.6-inch screen with Dynamic Island of the same size as the current models. This particular model will be equipped with the basic A19 chip, unlike the Pro and Pro Max models which will use the A19 Pro. In addition, the device will feature a 5G modem designed by Apple and a frame made of a titanium-aluminum alloy, but with less titanium compared to the iPhone 15 Pro.
A particularly noteworthy feature is the presence of only one camera on the back of the device. Kuo also mentioned that Apple intends to discontinue the Plus model with the release of the iPhone 17, but the ultra-thin version will not be its replacement. This new model will not be characterized as ‘Ultra,’ contrary to what other rumors have suggested. Instead, it will target users who prefer aesthetics and design over high technical features.
Worth noting that in June, Bloomberg’s reputable reporter, Mark Gurman, confirmed this information. According to his sources, Apple is investing significant resources to manufacture an extremely thin iPhone by 2025. Apple’s goal is to create the thinnest and lightest products in the tech industry, capturing the top spot in categories like smartphones with the iPhone, laptops with the MacBook Pro, and smartwatches with the Apple Watch.
