Apple brings Apple TV+ to Android smartphones!

In a surprising move, Apple is preparing to launch the Apple TV application (and Apple TV+) for Android devices. According to a recent job ad on Apple’s website, the company is looking for an Android software engineer to lead the development of an “application used by millions of users to watch and discover TV content and sports”.

Many interpret this move as an effort by Apple to increase its share in the streaming subscribers market. Apple TV+, Apple’s streaming service offering original movies and series, has so far been available only to Apple devices, Roku, Fire TV, certain Smart TVs and Android TV.

The release of an Apple TV application for Android smartphones and tablets would open the door for millions of new users, giving them access to all of the service’s content.

Although Apple has not officially announced the development of an Apple TV application for Android, the job advertisement is a clear sign of the company’s intentions.

This move contrasts with Apple’s previous strategy, which focused on the development of a closed ecosystem.

However, the increasing popularity of streaming services and the shift towards mobile video probably prompted Apple to reconsider its approach.

If Apple proceeds with its plans, the Apple TV application for Android is expected to be released later this year.

Until then, Android users can access Apple TV+ via a website or compatible streaming devices.

Apple’s entry into the Android smartphones market with the Apple TV+ application will undoubtedly intensify competition in the streaming services sector, ultimately benefiting consumers with more choices and better prices.
