iPhone 14: Rated 7/10 by iFixit – Which feature impressed the most?

iPhone 14 |

One of the least…advertised features of the new iPhone 14 is its back glass, which is now noticeably easier to repair!

Its look may not differ much compared to the iPhone13, however, both the front and back of the new Apple model open easily. Die-hard iPhone fans recall that from the days of iPhone 5, repairing the back of the smartphone was…an absolute nightmare.

The iFixit team revealed all details about the disassembly of the new iPhone 14, while simultaneously discovered some very interesting information.

New internal design

Apple did not mention at all the fact that it completely redesigned the iPhone 14 internally. iFixit also notes that the design of the aluminum frame and antenna required careful reassessment. Apple here had to use much more adhesive to seal both sides of the phone and reposition the internal components.

Upon opening the phone from the front, the screen connection cables and a metal sheet protecting the remaining components are revealed. Removing the back requires a little heat, a suction cup, and a tool to loosen the adhesive.

With the opening of the back, one can see the internal components as well as the metal brackets that help hold the back in place. The rest of the disassembly unfolds as expected, with the main components being held by brackets, screws, and cables.

It is worth noting that Apple continues to combine individual components in every iPhone, therefore it is necessary to verify the backside of the glass after a replacement. Software-locked repairs are one of the unique disadvantages, and so the iPhone 14 gets a 7/10 reparability score from iFixit.
