Increasingly more people are favoring Smart watches, due to the convenience and immediacy they offer to users, however, they are still not able to replace smartphones in the market. Nevertheless, Samsung has proposed a different device, through flexible screen technologies and innovative products that they typically create.

The company has filed a patent and is likely to soon apply it to a mass production device. The title of this particular device is “Electronic device comprising flexible display and operating method” and was released on December 9th on WIPO. This particular patent seems to be a smartwatch model with an expandable, rotating square screen, and it will also support the use of the S Pen.

The diagrams in the patent show that there is a crown on the watch that needs to be rotated to extend the rolling screen, on which up to 12 icons can appear in its initial position. In the extended position, the screen can display up to 24 icons.

When the user pulls the screen out, the top part of the frame relaxes from the bottom part. A semicircular drive rail is placed between them to remain as a single set with an elegant shape. Also, the crown has the ability to be pulled out, which allows the screen to automatically rotate to the right.

This particular device will, of course, have all the functions and types of sensors of a smart watch, such as heart rate, blood pressure, calories, oxygen saturation and even blood glucose for diabetics. In this particular model it also appears to have a camera under the screen, for recording photos and videos. However, the company has not made it clear whether they plan to include mobile phone technology in this particular device, allowing it to function like a smartphone.
