There are many different theories about which are the correct and which the wrong charging tactics for the mobile. Many of these now belong to the past, as technology evolves, batteries are made of modern materials, and smartphones radically differ from the first conventional mobile phones. Below we debunk some known urban myths:
Long hours of charging reduces battery life
You have certainly heard that you should not leave your phone to charge for many hours because it will damage the battery. However, this is not the case, as modern smartphones automatically stop power supply to protect from overcharging. Nevertheless, there is a chance that long charging can gradually reduce battery life and that is the exposure of the phone to very high temperatures. The heat of the battery can affect the chassis resulting in oxidation and shrinkage of the cells.
Make sure to have your battery charged between 50 and 80 percent. This way charged ions continue to work and protect the duration of the battery. Of course, frequent charges are not the most practical and convenient way, but they are certainly the most appropriate to protect your battery.
Let the mobile shut down completely before charging it
It may often be heard but it’s a big mistake. The main threat to the battery is the charging cycles (a full cycle is from 0 to 100%). Every battery has a limited number of charge cycles, which can be large, however, if you let the battery discharge completely, its quality downgrades significantly. Therefore, you should put your mobile to charge long before it shows the corresponding charging signal.
Non-genuine accessories affect the battery
This myth is partially true. Genuine accessories and chargers are fully compatible with your smartphone. If you choose an alternative (and more economical solution) you need to focus on good quality accessories from official representatives and not on cheap imitations available in the market, as they can cause long-term damage to your device.
