The purchase of used iPhone devices, if not made from a reputable store, can turn out to be more than a risk. The owner may “hide” important details from you or what you see in a photo in an online ad may be far from reality. The lower purchase price compared to a new one is of course very tempting but there are few times that the warranty of the used iPhone applies.
Before proceeding with any purchase, we advise you to check the IMEI code, which gathers information about the manufacturer and essentially constitutes the “identity” of the iPhone.
You can find the IMEI code either on the phone’s packaging or by typing * # 0 6 # on the device. This way you can also check if the device is stolen since it is now quite widespread in Greece to report IMEIs to mobile telecommunications companies from devices that have been stolen.
If the iPhone comes from a foreign country you can alternatively use the CTIA’s Stolen Phone Checker. Visit the page stolenphonechecker.org/spc/ and enter the IMEI code to verify that the device is not stolen.
In any case, you should be very careful and only deal with reliable sellers.
