Amazon is considering expanding its operations in Greece by creating Amazon Data Services Greece, which will promote integrated cloud solutions and services for businesses and organizations. According to other sources, the American giant is also studying the logistics market and the possibility of creating corresponding facilities within Attica.
In fact, to coordinate the above activities, it will soon inaugurate a local office. Given that the company increased its share capital earlier this year, the new office in Greece could even operate within 2020. It seems that successful Tony Van De Berge, Regional Director of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), will manage the Greek branch.
AWS has been operating in Greece since February 2020, offering high-tech solutions such as Amazon CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, AWS Shield, and AWS WAF to small, medium and large businesses. Services are provided through an Amazon CloudFront Edge location in Athens, which connects Greece and Southeast Europe to Amazon Web Services’ global network. It should be noted that AWS is already active in many European cities, maintaining offices in London, Paris, Stockholm, Ireland, and Frankfurt. It recently inaugurated another office in Milan while planning to open the next in Spain.
