What should you do if your smartphone has moisture

Humidity is one of the biggest enemies of your smartphone and in many cases can lead to its complete destruction. Important factors for the extent of the damage are what kind of liquid has got into the mobile and if the phone was switched on when it happened.

Usually, thick liquids are less aggressive and harmful compared to water. However, in almost all cases it is necessary to remove the screen to drain out the liquid that has seeped into the device. But, what are the steps you should follow immediately your smartphone comes into contact with some liquid?

  1. The first move you should make is to turn off the mobile. This way the moisture won’t affect the active circuits.
  2. Then, with an absorbent paper or a microfiber cloth, dry the device well.
  3. The third step is to remove as soon as possible the sim card, the memory card, and if possible, the battery.
  4. An amateur solution is to place the device in a container or bag with silica gel balls, like the ones we find in shoe boxes or bags. These gels have the property to effectively absorb moisture. Leave the mobile to stay with the gels for 12-24 hours.

Of course, the most effective way to “save” your mobile from falling into water and moisture is to turn it off immediately, remove the sim card and accessories, and bring it as soon as possible to a specialized technician from TheFixers.
