If you want to unlock your iPhone but have used the wrong password many consecutive times, then it will be blocked. The message “The iPhone is disabled, try again in a minute” will appear on your screen and your smartphone will be out of order.
In case you forgot your password, you will need to disable your iPhone. By terminating its operation, its settings and data are erased, as well as the latest attempts to recover the password.
If you have managed to create backup copies, you can reset the iPhone by retrieving the data and settings. If you have not kept a backup before forgetting the password you will not be able to restore your data.
Remove the password on iPhone
For this process you will need a computer. Disconnect the iPhone from the computer and follow the steps below:
Hold down the side button and the volume up or down button. Of the message to disable will appear on your screen. Swipe to turn off the device. Then connect the iPhone to the computer and press and hold the side button to display the recovery mode on your cell phone screen. In case you have backup copies, remove the password, and then restore your data.
*For the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models, follow the procedure above with the only difference that to turn the device on and off, keep only the side button pressed.
Reset the iPhone
Locate the iPhone on your computer and click on the Restore option. Thus, the Finder or iTunes will download software for your iPhone. If the recovery process exceeds 15 minutes, then it is interrupted and you will need to repeat the steps from the beginning.
Once the process is complete you can configure the iPhone again and use your smartphone.
