“The iPhone 12 is at risk” due to the global shortage of processors

The pandemic also impacts the technology industry, creating a domino effect of problems. One of these is the shortage of processors, which directly affects any industry that needs semiconductors.

So far, the biggest blow has been suffered by the automotive industry, but it is not excluded that soon the problem may extend to technology giants and the electronics market.

Could even the giant known as Apple have consequences and see the production of its iPhone 12 delayed despite demand? Its dominant position and almost exclusivity in ordering supplies from its contractors puts it in the upper hand, however, analysts estimate that the smartphone industry will also have losses from processor shortages, which will become apparent in the first half of 2021. This view was also expressed by a Microsoft representative and was confirmed by AMD’s CEO, Lisa Su.

For now, there does not seem to be an immediate solution to this issue, as the only way to increase semiconductor production is to build more manufacturing plants.
