The Chinese company seems to want to fill the gaps left by Huawei in the smartphone market and aims at the high-end categories, introducing the Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra. The new model will be the company’s new flagship with features that make it stand out at first glance. As one begins to get into the phone, some of its impressive features can be discerned, such as the large screen, fast charging, high-performance camera, the second screen on the back, and IP68 protection.
The packaging includes the mobile phone, a clear elastic protective cover, a Type-C to 3.5mm audio jack converter, and a 67W power charger. The device can be fully charged in 30 minutes and may not need recharging during the day. Despite its weight of 230 grams and its large size and “projection” on the back due to the camera and the second screen, it is comfortable for users to hold for several hours.
The right side has buttons for increasing or decreasing the volume, power on/off button, while at the bottom there are the nano-SIM slot, the USB Type-C port, and the microphone. There is nothing on the left side, while on the top there is a secondary speaker, another microphone, and an IR blaster. The speakers are high-performance, adjusting their performance according to the content being viewed by the user (e.g., playing music or movies).
The back side features a “projection” for the cameras and a second screen. The 1.1-inch AMOLED technology gives the second screen displays similar to those of the Xiaomi Band 6. On this screen, the user can monitor what the camera is receiving (for selfie optimization), time and battery indications, and more.
The front side display presents vibrant colors even in intense sunshine. In addition, the screen offers an adaptive refresh rate so that it adjusts according to the content and its performance is maximized.
The Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra features a Snapdragon 888 processor, Adreno 660 GPU, and 12GB RAM. These characteristics allow the device to perform at its best in both everyday functions and more demanding situations such as running videogames. Particularly in this case, the new Xiaomi model supports GameTurbo mode, offering additional settings and enhancements to the device, a feature not commonly seen before.
The camera performs exceptionally well both during the day in sunny conditions and at night time, especially with the Night Mode for even more stunning shots. The excellent performance of the main sensor allows for high-detail photos and well-balanced images, even in color rendering. For the zoom, the device offers a 10x hybrid function, while the digital extends up to 120x. The selfie camera comes with a 20MP sensor, delivering exceptional results.
The Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra appears to come out ahead in comparisons with equivalent high-end models from other major companies. Given the device’s performance, the characteristics of the cameras, charging, and the completeness of the purchase package, Xiaomi’s new flagship seems to have claimed the top spot.
