Big changes were announced by Apple at the recent Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, which took place from the 6th to the 10th of June at the company’s campus in Silicon Valley, marking also its return to live events for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As everything seems to indicate, the iOS 16 will change the way we use iPhones, with dozens of new capabilities and modifications it will bring. Here we have gathered all the features that excite us the most.
Initially, the messaging app will have a number of changes, most notably the ability to edit and recall messages you have already sent. This capability is available for up to 15 minutes after you send your message. Another function that will be added is the “Recently Deleted” folder, which keeps your deleted messages for 30 days.
A notable feature of iOS 16 is the new lock screen, which allows you to customize the appearance and the information displayed on it in a totally innovative way. The images get a depth effect, which allows the subjects to overlay the time and other information. You can customize the font and color for the date and time and add a variety of graphics. Apple has also added special dynamic wallpapers with animations.
In the more practical spheres now, the notification system and the focus mode are expected to be updated, with new applications being added to this like Siri, messages, and the calendar. The Focus Mode can even modify the home screen of your device, showing you the apps and widgets that match the function you have set.
Highlight was also given to the data sharing section. Perhaps the most remarkable change is the new iCloud Shared Photo Library. It’s an entirely new, separate photo library to which anyone who belongs to your family’s sharing group can have access, with the ability to create separate account types for children.
The highly anticipated updates will be available in the fall of 2022, with the official release of iOS 16 to the general public.
