Apple unveiled the first MacBook Air 15” at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2023, characterizing it as the strongest laptop in the world with the highest autonomy, even though it has an exceptionally thin and lightweight design.
According to what was revealed, the new MacBook Air comes with:
- a 15.3” Liquid Retina display (500nits brightness),
- M2 processor with silent design (fanless),
- a new 6 speaker sound system with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support,
- 1080p FaceTime HD camera,
- 3x microphones,
- macOS Ventura operating system (will receive an upgrade to macOS Sonoma in the fall), MagSafe connector for charging,
- 2x USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4),
- 3.5mm headphone jack,
- up to 18 hours autonomy,
- thickness 11.5mm and weight 1.6kg.
MacBook Air 15’’: Bright display, rapid processor
The company notes that its screen is 25% brighter and its construction 40% thinner than comparable PC laptops, while its M2 processor offers 12x faster performance compared to the leading Intel-based MacBook Air on the market and 2x greater performance than the best-selling 15’’ PC laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor.
More specifically, the M2 processor has 8x CPU cores (4 performance + 4 efficiency), 10-core GPU, 16-core NPU and supports up to 24GB RAM.
The 15’’ MacBook Air is available for order, and deliveries began on June 13. The starting price for the US is set at $1299.
