A few days ago, the first beta version of Android 13 was released, for those using Google Pixel devices. With its official release scheduled for autumn 2022, many are keen to learn about the new features of the software and what changes it will bring, especially in the field of privacy and personal data security.
Android 13 Beta 1, thus, brings many changes to the permissions that a user can grant to apps for audio, photo, and video, thereby giving them more control over the level of access that they can have to his data. More specifically, apps requiring multimedia access now have three distinct rights, depending on whether the file type is video, image or photo, and the previous unified permission that granted access to all file types has been abolished.
A feature that greatly enhances the user-friendliness of the new software, is the addition of the Clipboard UI. Specifically, in Android 13 Beta 1, as soon as you select to copy some text on a page, a pop-up will appear at the bottom of your screen. Then, by clicking on the pop-up, an editor appears with which you can edit the text, add an image, and make any change you wish, before you paste it.
Something else we liked, is the expanded customization capabilities of the User Interface. In Android 13, you can far more easily change the size of the icons and the font, without having to migrate to another editing environment, as was the case in previous versions of the software. In addition, new palettes have been added to the Material You feature, with 16 theme options, two-tone and multi-tone. In the new Android software, we see a functionally and aesthetically refreshed media player.
Finally, let’s add that the ability to select a different language for each app separately is added, while another addition worth our attention is the optimization of the QR scanner. Although it may seem insignificant, think about how many times a day you need to scan a QR code and how much time you can save with a faster application.
It should be noted this is not the final beta version, as at least two more are expected to be released later in the year.
