Although Apple continues to roll out updates based on iOS 18 (a process that will continue for several more months), rumours about which models will continue to receive support beyond it are growing.
Although it is still early to talk about iOS 19, information has already leaked about which iPhone models will support it.
According to French website iPhoneSoft, if your iPhone is compatible with iOS 18, it will also be compatible with iOS 19. However, some older models may not support all the features of the new version.
If this information proves accurate, the oldest iPhones to receive iOS 19 in September 2025 will be the iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR, which were released in 2018.
However, users of older iPads may not be so lucky. For example, the 7th-generation iPad, released in 2019 with the A10 processor, is not expected to support iPadOS 19, according to the report.
Developer previews of iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 are expected in June 2025, alongside WWDC. The stable versions of the new operating systems will become available in September of the same year.
Additionally, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, iOS 19 will feature staggered releases, similar to those Apple introduced in iOS 18 with Apple Intelligence.
