The most welcome surprise Apple had in store for its loyal fans at the launch of its new products was Dynamic Island on the Pro models in the iPhone 14 range.
But what happens when a user wants to disable Dynamic Island content? Can they? The answer is no! At present, there is no way to disable Dynamic Island content completely, as its behaviour is built into iOS 16.
Activities in Dynamic Island
If you find the animations distracting, you can dismiss them by swiping left or right across Dynamic Island without affecting any related background activity.
For example, if an album is playing in Apple Music and you dismiss the audio waveform and artwork in Dynamic Island, the music will continue playing in the background. The same applies to the timer, which will keep counting down in the background even though you can no longer see it on the screen.
If Dynamic Island splits into two background activities and you want to dismiss one or both, simply swipe across the one taking up the most space to make it disappear. Then swipe across the remaining activity in the same way.
If you dismiss every activity in Dynamic Island, it will return to its previous idle pill shape, leaving you free to focus on whatever else is on the screen.
