According to recent reports, Apple may be aiming to build the thinnest smartphone, with the upcoming iPhone 17 Air heading in that direction.
The new leak comes shortly after Tecno unveiled its Spark Slim concept, which also aims to become the thinnest smartphone. Leaks suggest that the iPhone 17 Air could be just 5,44 millimetres thick, compared with the Tecno Spark Slim at 5,75 millimetres. However, the camera setup could affect the device's overall dimensions, potentially increasing the overall depth of the iPhone 17 Air. This could bring it closer to the rumoured 5,84-millimetre thickness of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, another device that appears to be targeting the same category.

However, pursuing such an ultra-thin design often involves compromises. In the case of the iPhone 17 Air, this could mean a smaller battery, probably around 3.000 mAh, which may affect the device's battery life. The model is rumoured to feature a display with a resolution of 1260 x 2740 pixel, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a size between 6,5 and 6,7 inches.
Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air may lack some of the advanced display technologies expected in the iPhone 17 Pro. Internally, it is speculated to feature the A19 processor, 8 GB RAM and storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB. As for the cameras, the rear camera is expected to be 48 MP, while the front camera will have a resolution of 24 MP.
It is worth noting that all this information comes from rumours and leaks. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be officially unveiled in September, leaving plenty of time for further revelations and confirmation.
