With mobile devices now an integral part of our lives, used for all sorts of tasks, attempts to breach their security are steadily increasing. One area that criminals are targeting more and more frequently is apps on the Google Play Store.
People who prefer Android make up a large proportion of mobile device users, especially in Greece. The Google Play Store offers a wealth of apps that make everyday life easier and our devices more enjoyable and intuitive to use.
Unfortunately, malware has recently been detected in some of these apps. Cybersecurity researchers have identified a new list of malicious apps that carry malware. Although Google has removed most of them, if you have already installed any of them, you should uninstall them from your phone immediately to protect your personal data.
The list is as follows:
- Cool Caller Screen
- Document Manager
- RGB Emoji Keyboard
- Camera Translator Pro
- Colorful Messenger
- PSD Auth Protector
- Fast PDF Scanner
- Thug Photo Editor
- Special Photo Editor
- Anime Wallpaper
- Smart Keyboard
- 4K Wallpapers
- Coin Track Loan
- Peace SMS
- Happy Photo Collage
- Original Messenger
- Pellet Messages
What makes these apps extremely dangerous is that, on the surface, they may have given users no reason to question their trustworthiness, as most have over 50.000 downloads worldwide and good user ratings of up to 4,8 stars. To stay protected at all times, make sure the apps you download are always certified by trusted organisations.
