One UI 5.1 made its debut with the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, with the company making major improvements to its stock apps and wider integration with other devices in the Galaxy ecosystem. One of these improvements is quicker access to the Expert RAW app on supported devices.
Smartphones compatible with the One Ui 5.1 update will now also get a shortcut to the Expert RAW app within the stock camera app.
How to access the Expert RAW app from the stock camera app
- Download and install the Expert RAW app on your compatible Galaxy smartphone
- Open the device's stock camera app
- Tap More, where you will find Expert RAW in the list.
It is worth noting that on many Galaxy smartphones, the Expert Raw app also offers an astrophotography mode for clearer photos of the stars and the night sky.
The journey of the Expert Raw app from Samsung
Samsung's Expert RAW app provides greater control over the camera on selected Galaxy smartphones, allowing users to achieve better results.
The app made its debut in beta on the Galaxy S21 Ultra in 2021 and was released publicly with the Galaxy S22 series this year.
Samsung promised to expand Expert RAW availability to previous-generation Galaxy flagships, including the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 Ultra. Its initial timeline stated that the app would be compatible with the 2020 Galaxy flagships in the first half of 2022, but issues delayed support. Three months later than promised, Expert RAW was finally updated with support for Samsung's premium devices.
Following the latest update, Expert RAW now works with the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 2. Other phones from the same series, the Galaxy S20+, S20, Note 20 and the original Flip, are not compatible, as they do not meet the minimum system requirements.
However, even on supported smartphones, the app will only work with the main and 12MP ultra-wide cameras.
