The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 impressed Samsung fans and received rave reviews. However, there are still plenty of people out there who prefer a classic design for their smartphone.
If you fall into the same category and have a little patience, then the Samsung Galaxy S23 is probably the ideal phone for you!
This year, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series made a great impression with its refined design, performance and the “rebirth” of the Note. The Galaxy S23 looks set to follow much the same pattern in about a year’s time, with a few minor design changes, definite performance improvements and probably a few little surprises.
The Galaxy S23 may still be some way off, but let’s take a look at some early information.
Design and specifications
Let’s start with the design of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The first renders suggest there are no major changes. The phone does, however, appear to be less curved than the previous model, with a few other minor tweaks as well.
As for the S23 and S23+, Samsung appears to be “borrowing” some elements from the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The camera bump, a key feature of the S series over the past two years, looks set to… disappear, already causing considerable disappointment among many users.
As for colours and other details, we’ll have to wait. Still, if you were hoping for a complete redesign, you’ll probably be disappointed. But if you were hoping for a complete redesign in 2023, it looks like you’re out of luck.
Although we don’t yet know much about the Galaxy S23’s battery capacities, reports suggest that Samsung will improve its fast-charging capabilities.
Technical specifications
The technical specifications of both the Galaxy S23 and the S23 Plus are broadly similar to those of this year’s phones. The S23 is expected to have a 6,1-inch display, while the S23 Plus could have a larger 6,6-inch display. Both are expected to feature three cameras again, although the exact camera specifications have not yet been revealed. In the US, both will almost certainly be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship SoC, which will probably be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Samsung tends to announce new Galaxy S models at the start of the year. The S22 series was announced in February this year, while the S21 was announced in January 2021. This means the Galaxy S23 series is probably still a few months away, with more information emerging as we get closer to the announcement.
