Early reports about the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE had sparked cautious excitement among tech enthusiasts, with talk of an upgraded front camera and a 50 MP main rear camera – a welcome promise of better shots and an improved photography experience. However, new revelations are tempering expectations, particularly for those hoping for meaningful camera innovations.
According to information leaked by the same reliable source, the Galaxy S25 FE's telephoto camera remains unchanged from its predecessor. The device will feature the same 8 MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom – exactly the same one used in the S24 FE. This choice has already drawn criticism, as a camera with these capabilities is considered outdated by 2025 standards for a device expected to carry a premium price tag.
Samsung appears to be taking a conservative approach to the zoom camera, disappointing an audience that expects the FE (Fan Edition) series to deliver genuine value for money. On the other hand, we cannot ignore the fact that the S25 FE at least has a telephoto camera – a feature missing from the S25 Edge, which has no equivalent module at all. Small as this may seem, it could be a deciding factor for users who prioritise photographic versatility.
But the familiar… formula does not end there. The ultrawide camera also remains at 12 MP, with no sign of any improvement or change. Everything points to this being the same hardware used in the S24 FE. If the leaks prove accurate, the only meaningful change to the device's camera system will be the front camera, presumably aimed at improving selfies and video calls.
Inside the device, there is a small but meaningful technological upgrade: Samsung appears to be replacing the S24 FE's Exynos 2400e processor with the Exynos 2400, a more powerful and energy-efficient chipset. This could deliver somewhat better performance both in everyday use and when handling demanding apps and games, but it is unlikely to be a compelling reason for owners of the previous model to upgrade.
In conclusion, the Galaxy S25 FE – at least based on the information available so far – looks more like an “extended rehash” of the S24 FE than a new offering that breathes fresh life into the series. The differences are few and unlikely to excite the average user. Unless Samsung has a surprise in store for the official unveiling, the S25 FE risks going unnoticed in the shadow of the company's more innovative flagship models – and understandably so.
