Xiaomi has unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 14 Pro, powered by Qualcomm's brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The phone also features Leica main cameras, a new design and the new HyperOS software.
Cameras
Xiaomi has made several significant changes to the Xiaomi 14 Pro's cameras. The main sensor has been replaced with a new sensor called "Light Hunter 900", paired with a custom Leica Summilux lens. The sensor is a 50MP 1/1,31" unit with a pixel size of 1,2μm and a dynamic range of 13,5 EV. The custom 23mm lens has a variable aperture, ranging from f/1,42 at its widest to f/4,0 when stopped down.
The new sensor is approximately 44% smaller than the 1-inch-type sensor in last year's Xiaomi 13 Pro. The Xiaomi 14 Pro's telephoto camera has also been upgraded. It features a 75mm lens with an f/2.0 aperture and a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor. It supports optical image stabilisation (OIS) and can take close-up photos from 10 centimetres away. It can take standard photos at 40MP and portraits at 50MP.
The third camera is a 50MP f/2,2 14mm ultrawide snapper with macro capabilities at 5 centimetres.
Other features
The Xiaomi 14 Pro features a 6,73-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 3200x1440 pixels. Its processor is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. RAM starts at 12GB and internal storage at 256GB. It has a 5.000mAh battery and supports 120W fast charging.
The phone runs Xiaomi's new HyperOS software, which is based on Android 13.
Availability
The Xiaomi 14 Pro is only available in China. It is not yet known whether it will ever be released in other countries.
