Apple Inc announced that it expects lower shipments of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max mobile phones than previously estimated, as COVID-19 restrictions have temporarily reduced production at a factory in Zhengzhou, China.
“The factory is currently operating at significantly reduced capacity,” Apple said in a statement. “Our customers will have to wait longer to receive their new products,” the company added.
30% reduction in production in China
Reports indicated that iPhone production would fall by around 30% at one of the world's largest manufacturing facilities in November due to COVID restrictions in China.
The main factory in Zhengzhou, which employs around 200.000 people, is facing disruption due to measures to curb the spread of coronavirus, with a number of workers leaving the facility.
