Amazon is considering expanding its operations in Greece by establishing Amazon Data Services Greece, which will promote comprehensive cloud solutions and services for businesses and organisations. According to other sources, the American giant is also exploring the logistics market and the possibility of setting up related facilities within Attica.
In fact, to coordinate these activities, it plans to open a local office soon. Given that the company increased its share capital at the beginning of the year, the new office in Greece could be operational as early as 2020. All indications suggest that the Greek branch will be managed by the accomplished Tony van den Berge, General Manager for the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).
AWS has been operating in Greece since February 2020, offering the high-tech solutions Amazon CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, AWS Shield and AWS WAF to small, medium-sized and large businesses. The services are provided through an Amazon CloudFront Edge location in Athens, which connects Greece and south-eastern Europe to the global Amazon Web Services network. It is worth noting that AWS already operates in many European cities, maintaining offices in London, Paris, Stockholm, Ireland and Frankfurt. It also recently opened another office in Milan and is planning to open its next one in Spain.
