The brand-new iPhone 12 has only just hit the market, yet rumours about its successor are already mounting. According to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is planning major changes to the printed circuit boards used in the production of batteries for the iPhone 13.
Although there have been no significant complaints so far about battery life in the iPhone 12 range, apart from the iPhone 12 mini, which has been criticised for its poor battery life, Apple will introduce upgrades. The new batteries will be even more compact, with the same dimensions but greater capacity. This will allow the manufacturer to deliver significant improvements in battery life without having to alter the dimensions or design of its new smartphone.
In addition to the iPhone 13, the new LCP(Liquid Crystal Polimer) standard will also be used in the next generation of AirPods, as well as in the acoustic and optical components of iPads with Mini-Led displays, which are rumoured to hit the market in the first half of 2021. Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the AirPods 3 will be similar to the AirPods Pro but will offer longer battery life. The aim is to deliver 3-5 hours of talk time for each earbud.
The main LCP suppliers for Apple will be Taiwan Career Technology (accounting for 50% of orders), Unimicron and Unitech.
