For many people, an Apple smartphone is more than just a high-quality mobile phone. The iPhone has become associated with a particular lifestyle and is an object of desire for young and old alike. Its price, however, is a deterrent for a large proportion of people, who cannot afford to spend more than 1.000€ on the latest iPhone 12 Pro Max.
In recent years, Apple has sought to reach this audience and boost its sales by launching a range of affordable iPhones, such as the iPhone SE and the iPhone XR, which closely resemble the best-selling models but are available at half the price.
In an effort to compete with affordable smartphones from China, Apple plans to launch a new mid-range iPhone next year at a considerably more affordable price, aiming to gain a share of the market in China and India and compete with Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
Specifically, Sunny Optical Technology, a manufacturer of optical devices and camera modules, expects that the restrictions imposed by the US on Huawei will cause its orders to fall dramatically. However, it hopes to offset the losses with orders from Apple, which will have to expand its list of suppliers in order to reduce manufacturing costs for its affordable iPhone range.
As for the specifications of the iPhone SE Plus, it will probably have a 5,5 or 6,1 inch screen with a fingerprint scanner on the side and follow the design of the iPhone XR or iPhone 8.
