The JerryRigEverything channel on YouTube, where various devices are tested for durability, put a new Apple product to the test following its unveiling at the company's 2021 Spring Loaded event. Given the nature of the item, it is very likely to suffer plenty of knocks, scratches and general «rough treatment» during use, even if unintentionally. The device we are referring to is, of course, not the iPad Pro released recently, but the smart AirTag tracker.
Presenter Zach Nelson highlighted how easily the stainless steel outer shell of the AirTags is damaged, as it is constantly subjected to wear from surrounding objects. The outer casing appears to scratch easily, while the presenter considers the presence of dust and tiny fibres to be expected.

AirTags, then, may not look quite so shiny once they are in use, especially as they are intended to be attached to keyrings or placed inside bags, which can accelerate wear on their exterior. It is worth noting that the cost of each AirTag is 29$ US, while a pack of 4 AirTags costs 99$.
Nelson went on to replace the AirTags' battery and noted that they can be dismantled even further, despite their IP67 rating. In doing so, he showed how Apple has included internal antennas for connectivity, coils for NFC and a speaker for audio feedback activated through Find My.
This shows that the other components of the AirTags can also be replaced, provided no coils are damaged in the process. So, trust the experienced technicians at THEFIXERS to extend the life of your AirTags and carry out any replacements your device needs.
Nelson also took the opportunity to promote the skins he has created in collaboration with Dbrand to fit AirTags. These are designed to protect the steel casing and give them a Star Wars-inspired look.
